Nintendo 64 Emulator for PC (Project64)
Project64 is a Nintendo 64 emulator written in the C programming language for the Windows platform. This software uses a plugins system allowing third-party groups to use their own plugins to implement specific components. Two dedicated programmers–operating under the mysterious pseudonyms Epsilon and Reality Man–have just released a program called UltraHLE, which is a full-featured, fully operational Nintendo 64 emulator for the PC.Project64 can play Nintendo 64 games on a computer reading ROM images, either dumped from the read-only memory of a Nintendo 64 cartridge or created directly on the computer as homebrew.Nintendo chose to sell the machine on the merits of its fast-loading cartridge system and the insignificant fact that it featured a 64-bit architecture – unfortunately for Nintendo, people were more impressed by high-capacity CD media, in-game movie sequences and pre-recorded soundtracks than fast loading and the size of the machine’s pipeline.
